Winter Body Ready!

The cold weather really takes it toll on my skin, not just my face but also my body. I'm currently using a variety of products to try and keep my skin in good condition.

Whilst I have oily skin facially, I generally have the opposite problem with the rest of my body. The cold weather outside and the heating blasting indoors isn't helping. I've been using the Jergens original beauty lotion in cherry almond* which is an incredibly moisturising body lotion. It sinks it really quickly to leave soft, smooth skin and the spicy cherry scent is perfect for winter.

If I feel I need a little extra moisturisation on my legs then I use the Nip and Fab Dry Leg Fix which is quite an intense moisturiser. I'm not really keen on the smell as its a little medicinal but it helps to keep dry skin at bay.

Soap and Gory Heel Genius foot cream is a product I generally use at night. Feet tend to be an area that can be neglected and I've definitely been guilty of that in the past. I've been using heel genius after using a ped egg to get rid of the really dry skin on my heels - sounds oh so glamourous.
I really like the smell of heel genius, its exactly what you would expect from soap and glory!

For hands, I use Di Palomo enriching hand and nail cream in white grape. I got this in a beauty box a while ago so its probably not something I may have picked out for myself but its really amazing. A really lovely smelling hand cream that moisturises and sinks in quickly without that greasy feeling. love.

I've mentioned the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm before but its an incredible product. I've been applying this at night so I wake up with soft lips in the morning.

The other lip balm I've been loving a lot is Hurraw Night Treatment lip balm. I use this during the day and its smells and tastes so good. I love vanilla scented products and I love that this balm is natural and vegan friendly. I got mine from supersmoocher where Hurraw is currently on offer!

Let me know what products you will be using this winter!

3 favourites:eye brushes!

I don't think I've really talked about makeup brushes that much on here before. I've only really started becoming interested in makeup tools in the past few years. In the past I would just use any old brush, which although does the job, I really believe that the right kind of tools can perfect a look.
Today, I'm going to briefly talk about three of my favourite eye brushes.

The MAC 217 blending brush £17 can be used for blending or shading. I love this brush as its blends shadow like a dream, buffing the product into the skin to give a more natural finish. It washes really well and is super soft. Although it is expensive, the overall quality is very high.

I typically generally use the Sigma E55 eye shading brush $9 to apply a wash of colour to the lid, although its small enough to apply colour to the crease. It a soft but dense brush, allowing even application. I think Sigma brushes are really good quality for the price and a more affordable option to MAC.

My all time favourite liner brush is the Sigma E05 eye liner brush $9 which I use with MAC fluidline gel liner. Hands down, they are the most foolproof combo ever!I struggle to get an even line with most brushes and liners but the E05 just makes it so easy to apply. Love!

If you're interested in Sigma there is currently 10% with code DEAL2012 here

*Just a quick request - if you have a youtube channel or favourite youtuber please let me know in the comments below. I'm just getting into watching youtube and would love some new vids to watch!*

An amazing hot cloth cleanser for under £6!

Since running out of Liz Earle's hot cloth cleanser, I've been on the search for a cheaper alternative. Whilst I like the Liz Earle, I've heard good things about the superdrug vitamin E one.
To cut to the chase, I saw the naturally radiant hot cloth cleanser was a new addition to superdrug's skincare line and it was on offer for £2.99 so I couldn't say no!

The 150ml cleanser comes boxed with a muslin cloth which is a nice addition - the cloth is very similar to the liz earle apart from being slightly thinner.

The cleanser itself is in a squeezy bottle making it easy to dispense. Containing cocoa butter and mulberry and kiwi fruit extracts, it smells exactly like that. Much nicer than the liz earle one.
The texture is lighter that the liz earle hot cloth cleanser but still very creamy. I usually leave it on for a few minutes before removing with a warm damp cloth.
The result is super soft and smooth skin with a radiant glow. I am honestly so impressed. In the past, I probably would have overlooked a cheaper brand but I'm so glad I bought this. It smells lovely and works a real treat. Its also paraben and cruelty free so an extra thumbs up!
I have really oily skin and my skin feel more balanced since using this and the murad oil free primer (review soon!) but I think it would work really well on any skin type.
I can't rave about it enough!

Its still on offer at £2.99 (should be £5.99) although its currently oos online but it should be in store.

Guest Post: Favourite Five Nail Polishes!

Today I have a fab guest post to share with you by the lovely Clare from Happy Go Lucky. Make sure you check out her blog here!

Hi, its Clare from Happy Go Lucky here, when Zoe from the Beauty Shelf asked for guest posts I jumped at the chance and after talking to Zoe (who is lovely by the way!) we decided to focus the post on one of my favourite beauty items which is nail polish.

First of all is Barry M, this brand has taken the UK market by storm since launching in 1982 and I am sure most people have heard about them. Their polishes are generally a good quality with lots of variety and for the price tags of between £2.99 - £4.99 you can’t really complain! Here I have chosen the lovely coral and summery shade of Peach Melba, it is a tad bright but it is a good consistency, the photos here are with two coats.
No. 7 Stay Perfect Polish, this is a slightly more expensive polish which retail at £7.50 (I normally wait for the No.7 vouchers to bring the price down to around £2.50). They have some lovely rich colours and I think generally are more suited towards winter with burgundies, browns, greys, teal and golds. The shade in the photos is the gorgeous Winter Tale, this has a great formula and is opaque with two coats.

From the most expensive to the cheapest, Natural Collection was a brand that I turned to when I was much younger due to the price tag. They retail at around £1.99 but their range is quite limited to the shimmery pinks, corals and blues. Whilst not entirely to my taste I found a brilliant addition to my collection in the form of Hibiscus. This is the nicest to apply by far, it is opaque after two coats although would be fine with one and takes very little clearing up afterwards applying.
Models Own is a brand which I only recently started fawning over, and it was completely initiated by Ibiza Mix polish which was part of the Hed Kandi range. I have never seen a more beautiful glitter polish, it has lovely colours in it and different shapes. It looks great over all colours and I like to use it on an accent nail. They are £5 each but are often on offer and so I like to wait for those to pop up and then buy.
Lastly is Rimmel’s I Love Lasting Finish Sweet as Sugar, this is pastel shade which I wear when I want a light coloured nail but without the brashness of white. It is a duck egg blue, almost white, however it does have the worst formula of the five, it took three coats and still is slightly see through in parts. I think for the price of £2.99 you can find better quality at Barry M or Natural Collection. However for its versatility it cannot be faulted as it is really nice with a glittery accent nail or crackle effect over the top.
That’s all from me, I hope you have enjoyed reading and thanks again to Zoe for allowing me to guest post on her blog!

The Perfect Winter Blush!

Yep, as the title says I found a new blush that is perfect for the winter season. I actually gave one of these away in my last giveaway but never got around to buying it myself until recently.
Sleek Rose Gold is exactly what it says it is - a beautiful rose gold blush with a pretty sheen/shimmer that brightens the complexion. Its supposedly a dupe for nars orgasm - I don't own any nars so I have no idea but after a bit of googling they do look similar, except the sleek one is obviously much cheaper.
I'm really impressed with the pigmentation, softness and wear time of rose gold, so much so that I will definitely be buying a few more sleek blushes.
I bought mine from Ebay for around a fiver but its also on the sleek website - my local superdrug shut down so I now have to buy online unless I go into Manchester centre. sob

A New Autumn Staple: Models Own Grace Green

Whilst I'm in a blogging mood and feeling motivated, I thought I would dedicate a post to one of my current favourite nail polishes - models own grace green

Grace green is a khaki green shade I picked up during the 50% off sale. I'm not usually a fan of such shades but I tend to be drawn to more muted colours at this time of year - they remind me of being bundled up on cold autumn mornings!

I used to overlook models own but I'm starting to become more drawn to their polishes, especially the mirrorball and wonderland collections which look so pretty!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend - I'm currently sipping a green tea and waiting for the x factor results!

Let me know if you have a favourite models own shade!

xoxo
