Budget Beauty: Base Makeup for Pale Skin!

I used to be so envious of tanned girls. I still would love to have gorgeous naturally tanned skin but in reality its never gonna happen. I've learnt to embrace my paleness and luckily there's lots of products on the high street that can help me do just that.
I'm lucky that choosing a foundation shade is really easy. I'm always the lightest shade - though inevitably some brands don't cater for really pale skin just like they don't cater for really dark skin either. I've generally found that the best brands for foundation are Revlon and Loreal - I use the lightest shades in Revlon Colorstay and Loreal True Match and both are good shade matches for my fair skin. I also like Rimmel Match Perfection too (again the lightest shade). For concealer, I use the Collection Lasting Perfection in fair which is a good shade match and it doesn't oxidise either. I haven't tried that many lower priced concealers so I'm going on a lookout soon for some alternative options.
On the powder front, there's a decent selection for pale skin - I like Loreal, Maybelline dream matte (I think its called), Rimmel and Seventeen. I find brands like Bourjois run too dark on their lightest shades of both powder and foundation.

Bronzer is tough test for pale skin. The best ones I've found are The Body Shop Honey Bronze and also NYX's blush in taupe which you can use as a light bronzer and for contouring. Both of these apply sheer so you don't need to worry about over application. For blush, you really cant go wrong on the high street as there are so many options for fair skin. The ones I prefer are Bourjois blushes - these aren't overly pigmented so the colour can be built up. Revlon and Natural Collection also have some nice blushes too.
Finding a good highlighter for any complexion on the high street is a task. However, I've found one or two nice ones for my skin tone - the Revlon highlighting palette in rose glow adds a little shimmer without being glittery (you can see my review here) and E.L.F's baked blush in pinktastic - a champagne pink toned highlighter.

Do you have any good picks for pale skin?

  5. Love this post. MAC's NW10 foundations are a pretty good match for me and I know my sister mixes their white foundation with others. I really want to try The Body Shop bronzer now! Laura x

  6. I'm too pale for mac, even my estee lauder double wear in the lightest shade is a bit too dark, and recently I've had to stop fake tanning due to a skin reaction, Ive found the new maybelline better skin in light beige (005) is great, very similar to true match n1 in colour, maybe even a bit lighter, maxfactor 3-in-1 in light ivory is good but very pink undertones, same goes for rimmels new stay matte foundation in 010 light porcelain, I know maxfactor in their lasting finish does pale foundation thats a bit less pink than these though, but can't remember the shade names. these have been my recent saviours! was great to find this post no one seems to focus on super pale foundations and so many of us need them!
