How To Manually Add LinkWithin

adding_linkwithin

One great way to boost your blog stats is to add a widget at the end of your blog posts which link to other posts on your blog.
There are different sites you can use to do this - nrelate and engageya are both sites you can use for free.

The one I prefer and have always used is linkwithin. However, having changed my blog layout this week, I really struggled to get it back on my blog.

Basically, blogger made some alterations so that when you go to put the linkwithin widget on your blog, you see this page

Now, I looked around the net for some alternative ways to add linkwithin - I tried a few of them until I stumbled across this blog post.

This post tells you exactly what to do to add linkwithin to your blog and explains it better than I ever could. The coding didn't work straight away - you need to delete the speech marks in the code in step 12 and replace them manually. Once you do this it will work beautifully. It also adds linkwithin to your blog posts only so it wont show up on your homepage - I prefer this as it makes your homepage look a little cleaner.

As I said in the intro, this is a good way to help increase your blog stats. Both nrelate and engageya wouldn't work on my blog so linkwithin was pretty much my only option. However, it might be easier to use either of these if you're not confident with adding coding to your blog template.

  2. I'm still getting the hang of blog template and whatnot but I do agree that it's so much nicer when posts have links to other posts in the blog. I think this is how I end up spending hours in a blog. Thanks for sharing, I'll keep this in mind for when I learn how to play around with my blog.

  3. Thank you for this, I never really thought about adding this to my blog before but it sounds like a good idea. I especially like that they only show up on individual posts and not the homepage. Think I'll add it to mine later on :)
